We also want to learn more about how to run a social entrepreneurial business.

Question: What is the Social Entrepreneurs Program (SEP)?
Answer:
The OCSB Social Entrepreneurs Program (SEP) is an exciting endeavour for students to partake in an enriching, business-oriented, and student-led initiative where they can gain entrepreneurial experience, develop innovative mindsets and future ready skills to take action and make a difference in the world they live in. Students will have the opportunity to develop skills and competencies within the Deep Learning Framework.

Students will work with their teachers, together with experienced Volunteer Business Mentors, to research social issues, select a charity, develop a product or service or awareness and build out a social enterprise. All profits from the sale of products or services will go to or support the charity chosen.

Question: What is a Social Enterprise?

Answer: A social enterprise is when a business gives all their profits to a charity.

Question: Which charity did we choose?

Answer: As a class we research different charities, and noticed we were focusing on charities that helped other kids.  We looked at charities in Ottawa that help kids in Ottawa, and found CEFO- the Catholic Education Foundation of Ottawa.  We took a class vote, and CEFO was our clear winning charity.
